Polo, began in 6th century
BC, as a way of training elite cavalry for military exercises.

After watching a match in the middle of
the deserts of Dubai, Collins realized that Polo was in many ways a perfect
metaphor for success in life.

The ability to turn instantly, to
change course, change direction, to have a grand game plan in mind, yet be able
to alter it at a moments notice, seeking the end goal rather than being wedded
to a path which is no longer safe.

All of us begin the fascinating rungs
of adulthood thinking that the path to success lies in a straight line, from
point A… our beginning… to point B… our lofty goal.

Those of us who do succeed are quickly
disabused of this notion.

We learn to, if not embrace, then at
least adapt, to our changing world… and we find that the path to our lofty goal
of Point B often comes after visiting an entire alphabet of way stations along
the way.

How utterly Beautiful is this!!!! How astoundingly disappointing life would be
if it were indeed a simple journey from A to B.

It is our side trips, our unplanned
adventures, our changed directions, that offer us the most amazing views of our
life. It is when the easy road is closed and we have to take the mountain path,
that we see the wondrous valley before us.
