Jagger first met his future bandmate, Keith Richards, while at Wentworth Primary School and reconnected several years later. Jagger and Richards would put together one of the most influential rock bands: The Rolling Stones.  He became a cultural idol and a sex icon. His dress and performing style weresomewhat androgynous and explicitly suggestive, setting ablaze social norms. This young Mick Jagger steered rock ‘n’ roll away from the early ideas of beloved rockers and
into defiant stars. He has lived his life entirely free from apology while doing so. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Jagger nearly single-handedly showed a whole generation of men that it was not only OK to express yourself through your clothes and your dance moves but also cool. The Mick Jagger look—the sartorial embodiment of rock star swagger for the past 50 years—is unmistakable and iconic. The hair, the lips, the unforgettable outfits, it’s all pure Mick. Though Jagger’s style is instantly recognizable, it has never been stagnant; the star evolves his look to suit each era, continuously finding himself at the forefront of trends. Whether he was embracing crushed velvet and dandy signatures in the early ’60s, morphing into a glam-rock androgyne in the ’70s, or shimmying across the stage in a spandex jumpsuit in the ’80s, Jagger helped redefine conventional menswear. If he could dance in it, he wore it—even if it wasn’t exactly menswear, but instead borrowed from his latest paramour.
